The Erickson Story
25 years ago our founder and CEO John Erickson looked at the grounds of an abandoned seminary in Baltimore Maryland and envisioned its transformation into a thriving community for people of retirement age.
Like the neighborhoods of the past, he wanted the people who lived and worked in this community to feel a sense of unity, familiarity, safety and belonging. So that became his mission: to create an environment where life wasn’t just lived, it was celebrated.
Two and a half decades later what started with the Charlestown community in Baltimore has spread across the nation. Over 21,000 people now enjoy the Erickson lifestyle and that number continues to grow as more campuses are developed.
Through the years, the aspirations of the Erickson Enterprise have also grown broader and much more ambitious—our vision is to change the way Americans age and to positively influence society at large through a wide variety of endeavors.
